e-Commerce: a better way to shop

Online shopping is fast becoming the way  of the future. While the South African market is still in its developing stage, recent studies by PWC show that online shopping is fast becoming indispensable. According to the study: “Multi-channel shopping is an absolute necessity in the retail market, stores without an online shopping presence are at a major disadvantage.”

  • Consumers are attracted to online shopping for many reasons; top of mind being the easy of shopping anytime and without having to venture out. Variety, lower prices and convenience are also big motivators.
  • Retailers see that eCommerce stores reduce set-up and running costs as well as allowing for a greater national footprint.
  • Responsive design is a major feature for African markets where the majority of the population accesses the internet via a cellphone. Social media is also crucial to the retail experience.
